The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has announced that the first day of fasting in the blessed month of Ramadan or 1 Ramadan 1444 AH will be Thursday, 23 March 2023. The decision was based on the completion of the previous hijri month of Sha’ban, presumably due to lack of positive hilal sighting report from the country.
This decision was expected as yesterday evening the moon was not even born in Saudi Arabia and was already below horizon after the sun set.
