Crescent Moon (Hilal) Photos of 1 Sha’ban 1444 AH (2023)

Based on the calculations of the crescent moon’s visibility map, the sighting of the crescent moon (hilal) of 1 Sha’ban 1444 H will be possible from the western region of the American continent during the evening of Monday, 20th Feb 2023. Therefore, it is expected that we will obtain naked-eye photos of the crescent moon of 1 Sha’ban 1444 H from that region. There is also a possibility that photos of the crescent moon of 1 Sha’ban 1444 H will be obtained using telescopes from other regions to the east, such as Africa or the Middle East.

However, more photos of the hilaal of 1 Sha’ban 1444 H will be obtainable during the evening of Tuesday, 21st Feb 2023 from almost all regions of the world including Australia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Africa, and Europe.

Insha’Allah, this page will be updated with the latest information once we have obtained photos of the crescent moon of 1 Sha’ban 1444 H.

As expected, the crescent moon of 1 Sha’ban 1444 AH has been sighted and photographed from San Diego, California, USA on the evening of Monday, 20 Feb 2023. Below is the slender crescent moon photo of the hilal of 1 Sha’ban 1444 AH obtained by Central Hilal Committee of North America.

Crescent moon photo of 1 Sha’ban 1444 AH seen from San Diego, California, USA on the evening of Monday, 20 Feb 2023 (MoonHotline).

Verbal report of naked-eye moon sighting from the same location was recorded below:

Kazim Mamdani reported: Kazim Mamdani, Abbas Mamdani and Zohair Mamdani saw the crescent moon by naked eye for the month of Shabaan. We saw it on the Monday evening, 2/20/23 at 5:55 pm at Mount Laguna, CA, a suburb of San Diego, CA. The orientation of the crescent was at 1 and 7 O’Clock. We saw it with binoculars at 5:45 pm and then at 5:55 we saw it with naked eye. [from moonsighting.com]

Therefore, 1 Sha’ban 1444 AH corresponds to Tuesday, 21 Feb 2023 CE based on global moon sighting.

However, many muslim countries to the east of American continent declared to complete the month of Rajab due to negative sightings, and therefore starts 1 Sha’ban 1444 AH on Wednesday.
