The young crescent moon that marks the start of the islamic month of Rabiul Awwal 1444 AH should be visible by naked eye on the evening of Monday, 26 Sep 2022 from South America as predicted using crescent moon visibility map. Nevertheles, there were “claimed” naked-eye sightings from Indonesia as reported by one of the main muslim organization that regularly carrying out “moon sighting” in the region.

It must be noted that most regions in Indonesia fall under yellow category on the visibility map. That means, the crescent moon may only be visible using optical aids only.
We are still waiting for crescent moon photos from other regions. So, far negative sightings were reported from Australia, UK, Morocco, and South Africa.
From North America, we have a positive report of the crescent moon being sighted and photographed from San Diego, California.
