Crescent Moon Photos of 1 Muharram 1444 AH (2022 CE)

The start of the Islamic New Year 1444 AH has been confirmed by the appearance and sighting of the first crescent moon of Muharram 1444 AH from around the world. Below is a collection of the crescent moon (hilaal) photos taken from moon sighting events around the world on the evening of Friday, 29 July 2022. With this sighting 1 Muharram 1444 AH corresponds to Saturday, 30 July 2022 CE based on global moon sighting.

Earliest crescent moon photo was obtained from Indonesia. There was no positive sighting reports from Australia and New Zealand as well as the United Kingdom. Photos of the crescent moon of 1 Muharram 1444 AH were also obtained from Malaysia, Iraq, Jordan, United Arab Emirate, United States, Canada and more.

The western coast of the USA had the best chance to see the crescent moon. Youssef Ismail from Santa Cruz Mountain managed to photograph the thin crescent moon of Muharram 1444 AH on Friday evening local time.

From the United Kingdom, Juned Patel managed to see and capture the crescent moon from a telescope and binocular. It was not visible by naked eye from his location.

    • That is for conversion reason. We used to correlate the hijri date with the christian era date of the day AFTER the date the moon is sighted. The reason is that by the midnight the christian date will be changed as well as the day.
