This page will be updated with a collection of photographs of the first crescent moon sighted for the islamic month of Ramadan 1442 AH. It is expected that the crescent moon will be visible by naked eye, hence photograph could be produced easier, from the west parts of American continent or USA. Some countries in Asia and Middle East, including Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, have declared 1 Ramadan 1442 to begin on Tuesday, 13 April 2021 due to positive moon sightings results. However, we have not received any photographs accompanying the claimed sightings.

First photo of the crescent moon of 1 Ramadan 1442 AH came from Ahmed al-Juhny from Saudi Arabia on Monday, 12 April 2021. He managed to catch the extremely thin crescent using a CCD camera. This camera is capable of long exposure and can collect more light than human eyes. Therefore, this photo of the crescent moon is only visible by this camera and the crescent could not be sighted using naked eye.
Nevertheless, come Asian countries, like Brunei Darussalam, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka have declared 1 Ramadan to start on Wednesday, 14 April 2021 due to negative results of moon sighting.
