The Islamic New Year 1441 AH crescent moon has been sighted on the evening of Saturday, 31 August 2019 from many places. One of the first reports was from Indonesia. As suggested by the crescent moon visibility map for 1 Muharam 1441 AH, naked-eye sighting is only expected from the Pacific Ocean in the evening of Friday, 30 August 2019. Indeed, we received negative reports from some places in the USA from Friday.
Therefore, based on global moon sighting, the start of the Islamic New Year, 1 Muharram 1441 AH is on Sunday, 1 September 2019.
