The Islamic New Year of 1436 AH has come with the sighting of the new crescent moon that marked the beginning of 1 Muharram 1436 AH. The first reported sighting was from the USA on the evening of 24 October 2014. The rest of the world saw the Muharram’s hilal on the following evening of Saturday, 25 October 2014.
