We are already at the end of the month of Safar 1433 AH today. Now, the islamic month of Rabi’ul Awwal is coming. This year the month begins on 24 January and ends on 22 February 2012 as calculated based on the islamic calendar of Ummul Qura, Saudi Arabia. Thus, it has 30 days.
In some muslim countries, the month of Rabi’ul Awwal is believed to be the month when the Prophet Muhammad pbuh. was born. Therefore, on the calendar there is a mark on the 12 Rabi’ul Awwal (corresponding 4 February 1433 AH), which is regarded by some muslims as the birthday of the Prophet. Some countries also name the month itself as Maulid (the birth of the Prophet).
