The hilal sighting process, or observing the new moon marking the beginning of Dzulhijah, has been conducted in various countries on Thursday and Friday. Reports from Saudi Arabia indicate that the new moon of 1 Dzulhijah 1445 AH was sighted on Thursday evening, June 6, 2024. However, no photographs of the crescent accompanied these reports. Meanwhile, countries west of Saudi Arabia, up to North America, which also observed the hilal on Thursday, mostly reported not seeing the new moon.

For those regions that conducted hilal observations on Friday evening, such as New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, and surrounding areas, the results varied. New Zealand and Australia did not succeed in sighting the crescent. However, in the ASEAN region, the new moon was reported to be seen and successfully photographed.
