The month of Ramadan 1444 AH this year is marked by conjunction of the moon on Tuesday, 21 March 2023 at 17:23 UT. In the evening of Tuesday, the moon will not be born yet or would have set before the sun sets in most parts of the world. On Wednesday, 22 March 2023, the crescent moon of 1 Ramadan 1444 AH will be visible by naked eye or using optical aids from many parts of the world. Naked eye sightings of the hilal 1 Ramadan 1444 AH will be expected on Wednesday evening from the Middle East countries, north of Africa, Turkey, the Balkans, most of Europe and the USA and South Americans. More difficult moon sighting situations would be expected for South Africa, South and East Asian countries, like Indonesia, Malaysia, India, and Pakistan. Australia and New Zealand might not be able to see the moon unless telescopes are used.
