When does the Month of Sha’ban 1441 AH (2020 AD) Start?

The islamic month of Sha’ban 1441 AH is marked by the geocentric moon conjunction on Tuesday, 24 March 2020 at 09:28 UTC. On the evening of that Tuesday, the moon is already above the horizon in some places in the west part of the world, however the crescent moon (hilaal) will not be easily visible unless with optical aids (see crescent moon visibility map below). It is in the following day that the hilaal will be easily visible for most part of the world.

Therefore, based on the possibility of global moon sighting, 1 Sha’ban 1441 AH will start on Thursday, 26 March 2020 AD.
